Building Digital Shift: The Strategic Importance of Cybersecurity Principles in a Connected Pacific
On September 18–19, 2025, Borderless CS had the privilege to take part in the National Conference on Information Technology (NCIT 2025), hosted by Fiji National University (FNU) at The Warwick Fiji Resort, Coral Coast.
This year’s theme, “Leveraging Digital Transformation to Innovate the Business Landscape for a Connected Pacific,” brought together policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and innovators from across the region to explore how digital technologies are reshaping the Pacific’s economic and social future.
Our Founder and Director of Cybersecurity Practice, Jayaprakash (JP) Muthusamy, delivered a keynote session on:
“Building Digital Shift: The Strategic Importance of Cybersecurity Principles in a Connected Pacific.”
In his address, JP highlighted:
- Cybersecurity as a foundation of trust – emphasising that digital transformation cannot succeed without embedding strong security principles from the outset.
- The Pacific’s unique challenges – including limited resources, growing cybercrime threats, and the need for regional collaboration.
- Capacity building and resilience – stressing the importance of developing local talent, knowledge sharing, and stronger partnerships between governments, academia, and the private sector.
- Global best practices, local context – drawing on lessons from international frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST CSF, Essential Eight) while tailoring solutions for Pacific realities.
The session underscored that cybersecurity is not just a technical issue, but a strategic enabler for sustainable growth, digital trust, and regional resilience.
